OK, let’s get all the jokes out-of-the-way: My prerogative, New Edition, Every little step I take, all the R & B Bobby Brown references apply here. Now can we talk hoops?
OK, Bobby Brown, the 6 foot 2 point guard out of Los Angeles, California recently worked out for the New York Knicks. This last season the 28-year old was in Europe where he has come off his best year as a pro, averaging 18.8 points per game along with 5.3 assists for Montepaschi the Italian League Pro team.
Since going undrafted out of Cal Sate Fullerton in 2007, Bobby has bounced around Europe and the NBA. Known more as a scoring guard, Bobby has honed his skills in Europe and is now attracting attention from several teams in the NBA. One of those teams is the New York Knicks.
New York, looking for a “bargain” with upside, is in the market for a “push the pace” point guard that can run the floor as well as run a team. With Felton and Prigioni already locking up the 1,2 spots, NY is looking for a 3rd string point guard for no more than the vet’s minimum.
With names like Aaron Brooks, Nate Robinson, Jamaal Tinsley, and Sebastian Telfair all still out there, but most of these guys are looking for more than the 1.4 million the Knicks have available. There is still a chance the Knicks could land one these players as the free agency money dissipates. However, New York could strike first and land a player like Bobby Brown to be their 3rd string point guard. Could Bobby be that guy?
