Knicks 96 Wizards 106

Boxscore

The Knicks took a trip down I95 to the nations capital to try to win their 6th game in a row. Guess what? The Washington Wizards had some other ideas. The Knicks had an up and down game, while the Wizards nailed three after three, playing an impressive, solid game. Wizards url-1steal a win from a good Knicks team 106-96.

Things That Looked Good:

- Amar’e Stourdemire still has a long way to go, but his game has been inspiring. His explosion is evident and his footwork his superb. He finished with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Stat is back baby!

- Raymond Felton is the engine that drives the Knicks and he is at the wheel; without him this team would be lost. He penetrates and sets up his teammates like no other guard on the team. He finished with 17 points, 4 assists and more importantly only 1 turnover.

- Carmelo Anthony struggled early, however got hot when the Knicks went on one of their only big runs; regaining the lead at the end the 3rd. He finished with 31 points, 9 rebounds, but his lack of defense down the stretch was a major problem.

- Tyson Chandler did not get his record breaking 4th consecutive 20-rebound game tonight, but he did give solid minutes with 8 points and 13 rebounds.

Things That Need to Improve:

- The Knicks tonight were way to inconsistent for winning basketball. They let an inferior team beat them tonight. They gave up way too manyurl-2 three’s and did not guard the lanes to get much-needed stops down the stretch run.

- Ball movement is the key to basketball wins. I feel like I repeat myself every night, but its true! When the Knicks hold the ball, the offense comes to a grinding halt. During this 5 game winning streak the spacing and ball movement has been tremendous. Tonight it was still there, but not at the key moments.

- JR Smith needs to stop dribbling in circles and holding the ball late in the shock clock. When he makes quick decisions the team responds better.

- Jason Kidd had another lost night. He played 18 minutes, which is good for him, but was 0-4 (all from three) and looked like he was tired or hurt. Keep an eye on this.

- Steve Novak was once again lost on the bench and in the game.

Middle Ground:

- I give the Wizards credit tonight; they have beaten some decent teams the last 2 weeks and are now 8-7 since John Wall has come back from his injury.

- John Wall, in my opinion is not a franchise player. He drives to the basket like a lighting bolt, but his shot is not even close to being average. url-4The only thing that I can take from his game is that Derrick Rose was fast and also had no shot, but through hard work, he now has a great jumper. Can John Wall develop a shot like Derrick? Time will tell.

Overall, The NY Knicks lost a game tonight that they should have won. The Knicks up and down, roller coaster play was the cause. They gave the Wizards way too many three’s and let them get to the basket with ease, resulting in basket trading down the stretch. This one got away from the Knicks, lets hope they can get over this quick and get a win against the Minnesota T-Wolves this Friday in Minnesota. The Knicks are now 31-16.
