Knicks 100 Nets 86
The New York Knicks tonight came out and took care of business. They did what they needed to do in the second half of the game and pulled away to get their 19th win of the season. Melo returned from injury and picked up where he left off with 31 Pts. Knicks win 100-86.
Carmelo never missed a beat as he stuck a few jumpers to get the Knicks back into an offensive rhythm. The rust and tired legs seemed to be a thing of the past as NY and Brooklyn traded punches and were on the way to multiple lead changes.
New York got their defensive MOJO back and it showed the first few minutes with hustle and aggressiveness. JR and Jason contributed to the offense as the Knicks are looking for a player or two to add more offensively on top of Melo’s points. The Knicks and the Nets go into the half with the Knicks leading 52-48. Through three games so far these two teams were evenly matched games.
In the 3rd, Tyson Chandler broke the Nets defense wide open connecting on the back end of many Pick n Roll’s with Raymond Felton and one from Pablo Prigioni. Melo is being Melo. He is playing at an MVP level this season. Chris Copeland is contributing nicely with a few long baskets as he takes up Steve Novak’s minutes. With everyone pitching in, the Knicks have a better outlook the rest of the season.
The 4th quarter NY slowly pulled away with nice runs. It looked as if the Nets were a step slow in the 4th as Melo and Chandler dominated the quarter. JR Smith had a complete game with 19 Pts, 7-11 shooting and looks to be out of his slump. Knicks win 100-86 and are now 19-6 overall this season.
Overall, the Knicks turned a losing streak into a winning streak. Melo finished with 31 Pts and Tyson added 16 Pts and 12 Rbs. They have showed tonight why they are considered ¾ of their own version of the big three. Jason Kidd is in control of the team from everything I can see, he also did his part with 7 Pts 8 Rbs 5 Ast and 3 steals. Although Raymond connected with Tyson on countless alley oops, he is struggling with his shot. I feel like Raymond is trying to be a scorer when all they need from is to be a floor leader. Great win by the Knicks as they take on the rough and rugged Chicago Bulls Friday night.
